Celebrating ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø History at the 80th Annual Conference: A Narrative of Technology in Public Opinion and Survey Research
Throughout ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø history, methodological diversity has been a key attribute that helped to sustain ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s relevance in every New Normal in the past 80 years. At the 80th Annual ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Conference, a session will be dedicated to the technological transformations from card sorters to AI and the myriad ways they reshaped how researchers collect, process, and analyze data about public opinion and human behavior.
Organized by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø history subcommittee chair , this panel features four leaders in our field: will cover the early days of data collection through the switch from F2F to RDD phone, including changes on data processing and analysis. will explore the transition from telephone to mixed mode with a particular eye on Address-Based Sampling (ABS) and highlight how the rise of data security challenges and technology have influenced all aspects of project management. will review how online and mobile data collection changed the survey landscape in the 20th century and provide a glance in the future on what current developments around AI might mean for survey research. will summarize the technological developments as related to questionnaire pretesting and echo the points from previous presenters.
